I think I have heard somewhere that it is possible to make the interceptors carry troops.

Is this true and if so, how do i make it work (and how many troops?)

Install Xcomutil and it should allow you to place troops in the interceptor, i think that is all you have to do

You mean that you can go in to the equip interceptor screen and there is the option for crew/equipment?

That's right. Xcusetup does a bit of magic and edits soldier spaces into the game for the interceptor and firestorm. It also installs a single weapon hardpoint in the Skyranger.

In order to use the 'Interceptor' and 'Firestorm' maps in the battlescape, you need to use the runxcom batch file to run the game rather than the one(s) provided by the game. I got this wrong the first few times I was testing the inteceptor as a troop carrier.
