Chapter One - Page 001

Post 0001 - 12/09/2002 - Carlos the Jackal
X-Com introduced. Initial base to be built in Australa (Pine Gap), with additional bases to be constructed in Europe and America if they do a good job. Five initial troopers sent off to the base - Paul Jasper, Tim Day, Tamara Hilliard, Ki-Tat and Kilam Chung, plus a random bunch of CIA agents also recruited into X-Com.

Sean "Doc" France and Frank "Cheese" Cheeseman introduced as pilots. They're flying troopers and kit in an airplane known as the Galaxy (second biggest craft in the world).

The Galaxy nears Pine Gap base. The Hurricane, a sleek fighter craft with huge afterburners, is introduced.

Cleo "Poison" Andrews and Igor "Sandy" Zhandovich introduced as soldiers. They leave the official tour, and go on one of their own devising. The chopper arrives at base.

Post 0007 - 16/09/2002 - Carlos the Jackal
Shipment of soldiers get a firsthand glimpse at an X-Com craft launching.

Post 0008 - 18/09/2002 - Warlord
Jack "Warlord" Thomas introduced as a soldier. Sends Posion and Sandy back to the regular tour when they try to go off-limits.

Tammy meets Poison. They're sharing a room.

Bernard "Gardener" Dujardin introduced as a soldier. He's bunking with Bob "Red Shirt" Jennings.

The Galaxy arrives at base. Tim "Trigger" Munt introduced as a pilot.

Gia O'Connor introduced as Christel Keller's room mate. Turns up and instantly tells the tale of how she caught up with a UFO in the experimental Hurricane craft.

General Stan "Knight" Genega, commander of X-Com, introduced. Doc and Cheese are 'recruited' into X-Com, because Doc got a look at the secret cargo of the Galaxy.

Post 0014 - 20/09/2002 - Snikers
Keller and O'Connor chat. Purpose of X-Com is still up in the air for most of the recruits.

Post 0015 - 20/09/2002 - Ki-tat Chung
Ki-tat and Kilum Chung properly introduced (as opposed to their one line mention in post 1) as soldiers. Kilum attempts to wreck Ki-tat's notebook computer. Ki-tat goes off to join the tour.

Post 0016 - 21/09/2002 - JellyfishGreen
Karl Green introduced as a soldier. A meeting is called for all personal at the base. Genega explains the purpose of X-Com. Squad rotations are announced as five days on call, 5 off duty, and '5 days security for after-action teams' (whatever that means ). I'm guessing this is later rearranged to 'squad stays on duty 'till they get a mission'. All units are given keycards with printed photos for ID, used for moving throughout the base.

Warlord, now knowing that the aliens were behind the raids that had caused carnage in Columbia (where he had been stationed), absent mindedly crushes a clipboard.

Post 0018 - 21/09/2002 - The Veteran
Troopers start to realize that a war against alien forces is beginning. Rick "Ping" Chez introduced.

Christopher "Vampire" Black introduced as biology scientist. Gym discribed as large and well equiped.

TJ notes that X-Com's interceptor craft, the Hurricanes, have a top speed of twenty one hundred. 2100 in what unit, I must admit I don't know.

Karl Green meets the Chung brothers. Gia dresses for dinner and goes looking for TJ.

Tim, Paul and Cleo head off towards the firing range (not together; Cleo is on her own ).

Ricky Van der Wal introduced. TJ turns down the offer of computerised flight assistance. He also find Gia sitting in his jet.

Ki-tat and Green chat. Ki-tat seems to be an accent expert.

Ms Graham introduced (mentioned). Tammy and Warlord go off to put their squad proposal to her. Cleo meets Chez, who seems to prefer women stay off the field. She beats him in a speed shoot out.

Keller ponders the aliens, absent mindedly staring right at Bernard Dujardin. She never even realises she did it, but he sure did! She goes off the the firing range, but not before giving Bernard her drink, adding to his confusion.

Pios "Slice" Alparada introduced. He and Worm have a special computer network connection installed in their room.

Jasper challenges Cleo to another speed shoot out, and beats her. Then he meets Igor "Sandy" Zhandovich.

Gia has a Hurricane with one engine. TJ has two engines. The two pilots decide to go on a training flight.

Post 0032 - 04/10/2002 - Warlord
Warlord gets his hands on an autocannon, and takes it down to the firing range. It sounds like a rapid fire explosive generator, and the unwarned crowd are not amused. Particulary, one of the A.S.I.O. agents (either Tim Day or Paul Jasper) takes a dislike to Warlord over the incident.

Gia's craft, the prototype Hurricane, is revealed as the Lightning. She overloads the engine in an attempt to keep up with TJ's more powerful craft, resulting in a crash. Light injuries, it would seem.

Gia ends up in med. Tammy kicks TJ out of the med bay, and follows him for re-assurance.

Two days until fic 'new year'. Rhysling "Grizzly" Davies introduced, complaining about the death of one of the most expensive craft in the world. It woul dseem he and TJ do not get on.

Post 0041 - 18/10/2002 - The Veteran
Genega summons all troopers to training in hanger three. Doc is assigned the only Skyranger, and sent to collect the new Hurricane (built to replace Gia's Lightning). The new craft will be attached to the bottom of the Skyranger to transport it. Cheese is sent to return the Galaxy, is due to arrive back later (though I get the impression he gets forgotten instead, and never returns. ).

Post 0042 - 18/10/2002 - Snikers
Keller goes off to training without breakfast. Makes it just in time.

Post 0043 - 19/10/2002 - Tammy
Cleo, Tammy, Warlord and probably everyone else arrives at the hanger for training. Wreckage fo Gia's jet is still being removed.

Tammy, Warlord and Ping are on the same squad.

Lieutenant Dan Forrester introduced as manager of flight staff. It would seem Vet's idea of strapping the Hurricane to the bottom of the Skyranger has been scrapped in favor of sending two pilots, Doc and Grizzly. Karl discovers his lucky rifle.

Photon comes up with the scientist's schedule. Specifically, he and Zager are to start work on new weapondry, as it is estimated that the aliens's weapons kick ass.

Genega is informed that the tanks/lasers might be a little late - problems with the laser battery, but it would seem a pistol has been built. TJ continues to eat for half an hour after lunch is over.

Ki-tat tweaks his security rating and wanders into an engineering lab. Messes with a bionic battery cell until it blows up in his face.

TJ is most impressed that they actauly HAVE assault shotguns, and realises that he will be training with them (as they are reserved for the base defence team, which he is on).

Doc and Grizzly stop for lunch before they head back. The laser backscatter ablation is1/10th of expected, whatever that means. This is probably due to Ki-tat's tinkering.

Gaston meets Rick. Gaston expounds on how bad X-Com choice of weapondry was, and shows off his own side-arm, which is more or less a sub-machinegun. Then he gives his theory on Rick's pool skills - ei he didn't throw the game, but simply lost - complains about Rick's attitude towards women, then leaves. I don't think these two will get on.

Rick admits to Tammy that he lied to TJ about throwing the pool game (aha! Gaston was right! ). He demands a rematch, however.

It is revealed that Terrick's company has other agents in X-Com, who have left equipment in his locker. He is told to find some information about the HWPs by the end of the week, or his family gets it. He sleep gasses Jenny (the receptionist) to get hold of details about the base design and security. Then he meets Tammy in the mess hall.

Tammy chats with Rick. Rick was court martialled for killing a friendly CO, who he mistook as an enemy sniper. He also got a bullet wound for his trouble. Gaston turns up and takes Tammy of his hands.

Valerie "Val" Deacon and Paul Johnson introduced as in the intel section of X-Com. Pickers notes some odd radio transmissions from the base. Paul notes that some files in the X-Com database had been altered. This could have been either Terrick (the spy), or Ki-tat Chung (who edited some records after accessing the engineering sector).

Terrick spots Pickering at the party, and recognises him as an intel agent. He decides to stay clear of him.

Hankosha forgot about his powder, and ended up cracking the X-Com computer system instead. He notes an employee "Martins" (Martin Terrick I think), but trashes his computer with expresso before he could check it out furthar. He returns to the party with his snap powder.

Hankosha's computer access does not go un-noticed. Pickering decides Hankosha might be the one messing with files and transmissions.

Tammy gets chatted up by Gaston. Poison turns up at the party in a flattering dress, and meets up with Sandy again.

Rick meets Poison. They chat about their origins.

The new year rolls in. Keller (who has been drinking steadily throughout the party) kisses Gardener and then falls unconsious into his arms. A coincedence, of course. It would seem X-Com is now officially operational.

Hankosha doesn't make it out of the party room before Jasper sends Green after him (the flashbangs spilt his drink). A fight is prevented by Warlord, but Hankosha's good luck charm gets lost, and found by Poison.

Ivan complains about the soldiers behaviour (namely, Hankosha's flashbangs) and moves the morning training schedule forward by two hours.

Hankosha is not amused to find his 'charm' gone. It seems to be more then a trinket.

Post 0151 - 15/03/2003 - Tammy
Poison finds Hank's charm and decides to keep it until she decides what to do with it. Tammy meets up with Rick again, and the two leave the party.

Skyranger heads back to base carrying the two wounded. The rest of the squad is left to wait for squad 2, to begin recovery. A mindprobe was found inside the undamaged UFO. Skranger returns, and to Zager's dismay, the UFO is chopped up in order to transfer it. There's another mission debriefing in here, says 4 aliens were killed as opposed to my count of three - I guess that means Terrick's victim didn't make it. Warlord gets offered the position of leader of squad 1.
