Just to clarify, the Lobsterman would have a Sonic Cannon, the X-COM Agent would have a Heavy Plasma, the Reticulan would have a Plasma Shotgun and the Panzerklein has that nasty laser beam...
So who would win in this scrap? You decide! -------------------- |

Well, impossible to choose between Megaspawn and Sectopod.
Why? The megaspawn "completes" the sectopod, and enforces its powerful standard weaponry with a missile. I've always thought that sectopods should be able to shoot grenades, or maybe weaker versions of alien grenades that are guidable like blaster bombs The megaspawn does have a lot more firepower at its disposal. It does not have as much solid durability. As the sectopod is (i think) resistant to plasma, it takes a very good roll to do much to it, and plasma is the same way. In fact, the only thing that could beat a sectopod is the panzerklein(laser) or the megaspawn(brute force) So its a tie between sectopod and megaspawn, although sectopod only makes it simply because of its sheer toughness -------------------- I was this *---* close to being a bf2 pro player, but i left because of my internet and hitreg... meh. Just plain meh

The problem with the Megaspawn though is that as soon as you get close range, the rocket it fires is pretty useless and dodgeable. I seem to recall it won't fire it if you're close up either.
Personally my money's on the Lobsterman. Lasers would probably just bounce off it. Don't get hung up on good v evil on this one either. Imgine they've all been round each others house, got drunk, mssed the toilet and peed on the carpet - this is a free-for-all to the death! -------------------- |

it still has a devastator as a back-up though
reticulans with rockets spitters can be tough, but if they are in small groups(2-4) they are much harder. I always found plasma weapons tougher, but with a plasma shotgun they'd be harmless until they get up close, then *does slit throat motion* -------------------- I was this *---* close to being a bf2 pro player, but i left because of my internet and hitreg... meh. My money is on the Reticulan, providing he had a weapon of his choosing.
Sadly, Reticulans cannot use human designed weapons, such as the plasma shotgun. The only way he could harm you with a plasma shotgun is to hit you over the head with it. ANd seeing as he is two feet shorter than a human soldier... |

My money's on the lobster man. He's the only unit who is nearly sure to take a single shot from any of the other units, and survive.

Okay, we'll also pretend the Reticulan's developed half a brain and can pull the trigger on the Plasma Shotgun

Not voting, but I'd like to give a clap for the lobsterman.
It's one of these units that just keep going and going and going. It can survives several powerful explosions and shrugs even the most powerful of energy beams (or sound waves, in the case of sonic weapons) before kicking the bucket. Worst of all, it a regular footman, a common soldier, unlike the Megaspawn or Sectopod, which are specialist units that come in lesser quantities. The lobsterman have this hard boiled look... well, their shells are already an orange-red colour. They probably spend too much near underwater thermal shafts for the warmth. Of course, trick the lobsterman to step into a freezer, poke it with a butter knife, and start boiling water in a large enough pot and they aren't really much use. - NKF -------------------- Current Avatar Source: A custom GM-Striker. The 'British' counterpart to the 'German' Zaku in Ich trage eine Wanne für einen Hut. I still have no idea if that's been mistranslated.

I have to say the lobster man. Their only weakness is PSI, and none of the other aliens mentioned have it.
When I used to play X-com I always foung Sectopods comepletely useless. they were either trapped in a tiny room on the battleship, and couldn't get out, or you mind controlled them and the other three of the four squares shot itself. By the time they turned up you should be shooting down every ship with them in, so they are no threat. Megaspawn: excelent at wounding guys, but never great at killing them. The flying soldier. Well he has a plasma, that is a predecessor of Gauss and gauss was pants vs. Lobstermen. The reticulans are rubbish unles they start with 8 visible to your start location with rocket launchers, then you die in less than a second. Edit: p.s. never played silent storm. |

Well the Lobsterman would have no trouble against a Panzerklein Ricardo - shiny surface and immune to more powerful weapons than a laser beam. Might heat him up slightly, but that'd be about it.
Oh, and welcome to the forums -------------------- |

well I have been lurking for some time now.
Found this site after I was looking for a way to actually win Aftermath. Inspired to give the game a second chance I then discovered the Plasma Rifle + Advanced PR. Must admit the begining was way better when your guys are OK, and there are no one shot one kill weapons for either side. You had to use cover and tactics and stuff to win. When the aliens get rocket launchers I found it went downhill. |

My vote goes to x-com soldier in a flying suit..
I have some expiriences with sectopods going down after one salvo.. -------------------- See, I've traveled the galaxy, and they sell guns out there that would amaze and astound you.
Of course,by "amaze" I mean "maim" and by "astound" I mean "render you indistinguishalbe from the ground you were standing on" |

To be up against that lot? Definitely a survivor. He'll use fists if neccessary, and those armoured gloves could probably do some damage to a few of those opponents with a good swing behind them
