Does anyone knows how to change maximum soldier TU's/ health/ strength/ etc.
Currently, for example, max TU's soldier can reach is 80 (sometimes they get 81). After that soldier stops getting more TU's. I don't think that raising this would kill game and I want to have it raised. |

simple, grab one of the many saved game editors that are lying about.
just remember not to raise it about 255... otherwise its kinda doesn't work. ok, so this doesn't change the maximum... but you can change their current. on the other hand... i belive that there is an old version of ufo around somewhere that can have stats go up to 255... trouble is that when they go beyond that they wrap round to 1. -------------------- A Target_Tinboy production

I do know about saved game editors, but I do want to raise max stats in game engine.
Well, this won't be counted as hacking (at least for me) because it sometimes was unlimited just before some "smart guy" at Microprose instead of fixing the "wrap to 1" bug decided to set maximum, and set it to such a low value. I consider value of about 120 more correct. |

The wrap around was never fixed because it wasn't exactly broken. It's a sort of feature of the 'unsigned char' data type (a byte, which is eight bits, with one bit being the smallest data type a computer can work with).
You just weren't ever meant to reach such high values to begin with. But as fate would have it, they'd just forgotten to put the stat caps in the initial release of the game, among other things left out were the 'next page' arrow for inventory on the floor and the difficulty level resetting after the first mission. I was very disappointed about the attribute caps at first, but now that I've been playing the game with the skill caps in place for some time, I find that you can actually do quite a lot with just 80 TUs. It really forces you into rethinking your style of play. Having more TU's may mean you can perform more actions that require fixed TU costs, but most of the important actions, like firing your guns and priming grenades all require a percentage of total TUs. So even an übersoldier teetering on the edge with 255 TUs will still only be able to fire as many times as a brand new recruit. (with the exception when their stats are so low that the precentages turn into 0 TU's, so you technically get infinite free shots, although you won't be able to move) On the bright side, even with the skill limits, your firing accuracy can go up to 130 or thereabouts with enough experience. A marksman at a good elevation and with that sort of accuracy can control the field with a plasma rifle without even having to move or kneel. On an even brighter note, no longer do your soldiers have to spend several years in the infirmary because of a mild papercut. Now at most it's a month or so.
