WE ARE VENOM!!!!

n dis forum looks kewl now!

n e wayz i have got to the end of UFO and i just dont feel like going to cydoina and end all the management of alien activity on earth....

Tell me what should i do:
a) go to cydonia and end it all (and feel totally empty and unfulfilled)?
or
B) stay on earth and keep my part time job, as earths commander against the alien threat?

I suggest you do the following:
1. Go to Cydonia
2. Kill everything that moves
3. Start a new game. (Remember the good old rifles?) :o

Presenting, the poorly named "X-Com Solo challenge" [1] :

*toot-tooooot!*

You can probably guess what I'd been doing the past two days prior to this post...

Me need sleepies!

[1] I really should call it the X-Com Solo Ironman Floater Base Assault with One Pistol And Maybe a Few Explosives Challenge™, but that's rather a mouthful. smile.gif

One of my favorite challenges is the Berserker Rampage in TFTD. Wait until you have at least Vibroblades, and send your squad out with only hand to hand weapons, no grenades. Things get interesting when you lose the capability for ranged combat.

--------------------
"For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he pass'd;
And the eyes of the sleepers wax'd deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!"

i still think Final Fantasy with four white mages is harder...

Well, not really, because you can still swim downwards with great ease grin.gif

Whereas my challenge isn't easy any way you look at it :o

Using only a rocket tank is hard, but not impossible if you choose your shots well (theoretically). A solo rocket tank should be able to take on most of the smaller UFO's, except the ones that have a unit that stands in one spot inside the ship and doesn't move about. Tanks aren't really known for their ability to move through small doors. smile.gif

You could use the 'move through walls' trick, but then you'd get the tank stuck.

Now, using one soldier with a standard rifle against a horde of superhuman cyberdiscs...now that's suicide. Blasted thing won't even dent them.

* * *

4 WM's? I found it extraordinarily hard until I got past whatsisname. Some bugger of a wizard pretending to be a king near the place where pointy eared people in green tights prance about the woods like merry pillocks. The enchanted gear you find can be a real boon. Especially the ones with low level BM spells.

Probably a solo RM would be more interesting. Must try that some day...

Hmm, what am I talking about? Durr... I like swords.

This topic has gone completely off track :hmmm: come on people!
Should he finish the game or not?
I'd say no venom. Wait until the 2040s and then complete the game. That way TFTD won't happen until the same time as apocalypse so the aliens will fight each other there!
Hmmm... Time to create a new thred methinks... thinking.gif

Welcome back to the wonderful world of Fan-fiction! (it's short for fantastic!)

You won losing only two units? That's very good for a first run at Cydonia. Mine was about 6 or 7 (Not including 1 Plasma Hovertank and 1 Fusion Hovertank tongue.gif )

You know this is probably the sixth time i played it and it has been the only time i ever played the game through to research everything possible... i think... i need to look up a research tree to see if i have researched everything?.... But i still need to try playing the mission without psi... its too easy!...

But im scared that i might loose my soliders (oh yeah!)...

I forgot to mention i wasn't taking into account my tanks when i said i lost two units... dont really care much about tanks realli... i use them most for scouting so to take them into acount i lost 4 units
