Just gonna add a little to end of this Slaugher.
Make sure u can reproduce the bug each time u try it, otherwise its jsut a waste of time sending it off as its a 1 off. Waste of there time, also include HOW u made the bug happen so others can try it an so can the developers. Trust me i know what i am talking about, beta tested quite a few games now an it saves a lot of hassel regarding this. -------------------- If u find urself in a position where u cannot control the outcome, u know u have exceded the limitations of ur mind.

Do you have the latest NVidia drivers for your graphics card, as well as the latest sound card drivers?

The error occurs when I attempt to start a mission that requires my troops to blow up an installation. I have had elimination missions start fine.
The error occurs at 30% loading of the mission. It has happened three times and never been successful. System details Athlon 2100+, Asus K7A333 motherboard, 1.5GB RAM, Geforce 4600 ti 128MB, WD 120GB HDD with 12MB cache, Audigy sound card. Windows XP home edition SP1. Monitor is Mitsubishi 220. Max Refresh 85. I'm running it in 75. I have downloaded and installed the 1.1 patch. The error is as follows: assert_fatal file:C:\ufo_src\ASL\kvfs.cpp line:1068 "GameData.vfs": uncompress error (-3) in file file 05_13.ublck (pos: 3128485) Seems a bit odd that there is a ufo_src directly on the C: drive - I will investigate that when I get home this evening... |

Look like your gamedata file is corrupt...? @Kingtoke: http://www.ufoaftermath.co.uk/?c=FAQ&p=faq#1.9 That is a bug in the game, that will hopefully be fixed in the next patch... -------------------- |

Thanks Slaughter - I only looked at the headlines of the FAQ and not the content. :o
I will delete the file and reinstall see how I get on. Might be because in my excessive laziness I used my CD drive for disk one and the DVD drive for disk two. |

Aftershock
I don't know if this has been fixed in the patch, I didn't see it mentioned. I'll give my system specs, though they don't matter in this case: ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard AMD Athlon XP 2600+ Palomino processor Samsung SyncMaster 755 DFX monitor Kingmax DDR RAM 512 MB Gigabyte ATi Radeon 9600 Pro 128 MB graphics card (Catalyst 5.11 drivers) Onboard nVidia nForce soundcard All drivers should be up to date, I updated them recently. Anyway here's the bug and how to repeat it: Need add-ons? Don't have the resources nor the time? Fear not for you can get them absolutely free. Seriously though, there seems to be a bug which will multiply your addons. I got this in the demo, so I couldn't try the patch. It believe it works on every addon. How to do it: Go to the equip screen. Choose your weapon (the soldier must be equiped with it) and click compose. Obviously, you need to have an add-on, first. Add it to your weapon and click on "set name". Now click compose again, but don't do anything after that, just click Cancel. Click on Compose again and you'll notice that you have the item(s) equipped and also in the "ground" space. Click on Cancel again. Congratulations, you now have an extra add-on. Go and equip another weapon with it. Since you are pretty limited in the demo, I could try this only on a few weapons, namely the sniper and the desert eagle. If you can't repeat it in the full game, try the demo. |
