Version 1.3 patch:
The version 1.3 patch for UFO:Aftermath have been released by Cenega, and this is what it changes/adds:

- More variable statistics of the enemies
- The Reticulans Stealth and Observation is decreased.
- Enable sounds for non-player units when they are hit or die.
- Fixed some animation problems.
- Collapsible weapons can deployed by kneeling:
Order the soldier with collapsible weapon to kneel down (it was not previously possible as he carries a heavy armour) and he will deploy the weapon. You can then order him to attack as you see fit.
- Saved games in Save/Load dialogue are ordered by real-world date
- The mind-control can be canceled by pressing Ctrl+C
- The target area can always be reached in outdoor missions
- Some weapon stats are modified
- Fixed pseudo-random crash-bug in strategic game, plus various minor bug-fixes.
- Added support for modding tools.
- Fixed problems with Matrox Parhelia videocard

The patch (~10 MB) can be found at these locations: 3D Gamers, Boomtown, Cenega, Computer Games, Gamers Hell

If you know more mirrors, please post the link as a reply to this post, or send us a mail.

Modding tools:
The official modding tools are out as well. You can get them from 3D Gamers or Cenega. They have a map editor, conversion tools and more. Let the modding begin!

ALPine 2.8.1:
ALPine are now supporting version 1.3 of UFO:Aftermath. You can get it from Fulby's site, and from our ALPine section later. You need to uninstall the old version before installing the new one.

There is also a ALPine highlighter available for the ConText text editor, and you can find it here. You can also find guides there to making ALPine plugins.

New forum skin:
Some people, me included, have had problems with the fact that the forum is a bit too dark. Hard to see the text boxes where you put the title and so on. Therefore Fulby have been nice enough to make a new one. It is optional to use it, and you can add it by going into My Controls->Skin and language settings.

Site trouble:
We have a few minor problems with the site at the moment. The polls at the front page isn't working properly, and the FAQ link is dead. This will be fixed soon, along with updates to the required sections. Only problem is that the undersigned forgot his login details when he went home for Christmas, and thus need some time retrieving them.

The ModTools that Olav sends us to is 3.4 Megabytes.

Aralez pointed us to enhanced tools at:
**Link removed by Slaughter**

Aralez said that Martin pointed him to the viewer_new.zip file. That file is nearly 12 megabytes.

I haven't had a chance to download both sets of tools to compare them.

Don't know much about modding. I just lurk.

The file you are pointing to is a update to the tools after we did some testing Lurker. It adds a preview window to the map editor, a bug fix and some more I believe. Here's a quote from Martin:
QUOTE
If you unpack it, you will find a new executable for the viewer and folder "tactical" with many subfolders -- these copy the folder structure in gamedata.vfs. When you merge the files in these folders with the data from the game, you can then run the viewer, choose Open Library and then select a directory with the blocks and open the file _default_ubl.mdllib there. You can then insert the block by double clicking.

Think a new version of the tools with the fix should be available soon, though I don't know for sure yet.

So we should unpack/install the first version (from Cenega), then "patch" it with the files from Altar?

Well, I never tested the update, so you have to ask Fnurg, Aralez or sigget. But that's about what you have to do I believe.

The update, that should be available from cenega by now, is a new viewer.exe and a large set of thumbnails for the ublocks. So you should just have to unpack into the same folder you have the modtools in.
