When I turn on music in the game, it drives my CD at high speed while the music plays. I'd like to move the music off the CD so that the CD can be left alone to cool in idle mode (otherwise it gets quite hot when it spins constantly).

There's a 300 meg Music file on the CD and I tried just copying it off into the game folder and the rawsound folders hoping that the game would notice it there, but this didn't work.

Is there a config file somewhere that I can tweak to get the game to use the harddrive instead of the CD?

Thanks!

hmm...thats a question i'd like to know as well. i know almost for sure that you can just copy the data files from the cd, but thats just like choosing minimal, standard or optimal for installation...as the music file is in the root dir on the cd, im not quite sure. if it were in the xcom3 folder OTOH, it would be a diferent story...but no, i know of no config file. this problem would be experianced by anyone who installs/ed apoc with the no-cd patch (im reffering to pitating, which XTC does not in any way, shape of form, endorse).

This problem can be easily solved by using a Virtual CD program.
Like the name explains, it creates a virtual copy of the xcom apoc cd. The data will be saved on your harddisk. You then assign the data file to the newly created virtual cd drive. Then you can play without a cd smile.gif

It shortens loading times which can sometimes be annoying for some games.
I always use a virtual cd with games that run speech files from the cd.

Hmm, thanks for the tip. $40 is a bit much for a small benefit like that though.
