QUOTE The Prince of Darkness has vanished and the Infernal Throne sits empty. A conclave of the Powers and Potentates of Hell will be summoned to Pandemonium to select the next ruler of The Infernal Pit. Do you have what it takes to claim the throne and rule Hell? Solium Infernum is a turn based strategy game set in the profoundest depths of Hell. It's got hexes! ![]() QUOTE Assume the role of an Archfiend and customize your avatar to suit your particular game play strategy. Choose the brute force way of the infernal warlord or tread in the shadows as a deceitful, backstabbing power broker...or amass wealth and rare treasures to buy the throne. Each incarnation of Hell is unique and a pocket plane unto itself. Travel far enough in a certain direction and wind up where you started. Confront your fellow pretenders to the throne in all directions. Control over 30 Places of Power like The City of Dis, The Wood of the Suicides and The Temple of Lust. Places of Power can provide you with different resources including prestige. Earn the most prestige when the conclave is called and claim the throne. ![]() Hope she doesn't work at the Temple of Lust. QUOTE Demand Tribute from your minions on earth and use them to fuel your fiendish rituals and increase your own dark powers. Everything is for sale in Hell. Bid on Legions to expand your territorial holdings. Hire lesser fiends, known as Praetors, to lead your legions into battle. Acquire Infernal Artifacts and Unholy Relics to increase your power. Know your place and observe the protocols of Hell. Declare Vendetta on a rival and wager prestige on how effective you are at making him suffer. Drive him to Blood Feud, crush his legions and banish him to the Abyss. Deception and Lies can be as great a weapon as a legion of fiends. Frame your opponents for vindictive acts of aggression and watch them tear each others throats out. Simultaneous turns allow you to place your orders and await the heralds and messengers bringing word of the unfolding events in Hell.Play By E-Mail allows up to six players to compete for the Infernal Throne. AI players can be selected to fill in open slots. Single player games versus AI opponents are also available. If deceiving opponents is wrong, I do not want to be right. Like the sound of that multiplayer. QUOTE Coming Winter 2009! Sorry, what? QUOTE What will the system requirements be? A. Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista - Video: 1024x768 minimum display resolution, 32 Mb Video RAM (128 Mb Recommended) - CPU: 800 MHz Processor (2 GHz Recommended) - Memory: 256 Mb RAM - 200 MB free Hard Drive Space - 16 bit Direct Sound compatible Soundcard Mac OS X 10.4 or better - 256 MB RAM - 1024x768 minimum display resolution Setting - Right Click capable mouse required So pretty much everyone can play it, then.

QUOTE Jesus Christ, don't you people have anything better to do?! Screamed Vic Davis when we harassed him earlier today over the Tip of the Spear. No, not a Freudian phallic object, but an update for your friend and mine, Armageddon Empires. It's a beta, and includes new rules for infantry-types, new advanced training cards, new point costs for sabotage and assassinations, and an optional fuel cost rule. Read the details over on the harried man's blog. And of course, with new cards, comes new card art. ![]() Sexy! P.S. Mr Davis didn't really scream that at us. He's actually quite a pleasant chap.

QUOTE Kiss my ass. Said Vic Davis earlier today, when we asked him for information about his new game. Actually, that's a lie. It's called Solium Infernum and it: QUOTE Is a simultaneous turn based game Has an adjustable limit on what you can do each turn (2-6 major orders can be issued) Is played on a hex map that wraps i.e. there are no borders or “safe” edges Has a simplified movement and terrain system (passable or unpassable hexes) Has a resource system based on choosing cards with icons that are offered to you from some group Has assets that you deploy to a game board called legions Has you bidding in an “Infernal Bazaar” each turn with resources to win the services of these legions Usually lets you see all agents on the board Lets you control key locations called Places of Power Lets you customize your starting position by designing your own Archfiend Lets you level up your Archfiend in 5 Attributes and their corresponding Powers by spending resource cards Has a diplomatic system that channels conflict in a controlled manner Allows you to covertly stab somebody in the back Has a single currency called Prestige that usually determines the game’s winner after a set number of turns Has Public and Secret Objectives that players can attempt to accomplish which often result in a Prestige bonus being applied at the game’s conclusion Allows for multiple ways to win the game Can be played with other humans via PBEM or hotseat Can be played by yourself against AI’s Is supposed to resemble a board game More details and various other interesting strategy-game-relted gubbins on the slave-to-turn-based-man's blog. For those of you who don't remember Armageddon Empires, shame on you. Go and read the review and buy it.

Okay. The aim of the game is to name a song that has something to do with the gameplay, themes, or content of a game.
For example: I Collect Coins (Mercury Rev) - Super Mario Brothers. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (AC/DC) - Jagged Alliance 2. Stir It Up (Bob Marley) - Cooking Mama. Pretty poor efforts there, but they serve as examples. I'm sure you lot can do better. |
