So I was playing through a game in X-COM CE for windows, but now that I got DOSBOX working I have been playing the DOS version. I simply moved my saved game from CE to DOS and everything transferred. I was really happy.

But, I just played for a month, and definitely noticed that the difficulty is WICKED easy now. I was playing on veteran, but now the aliens are just idiots. I first noticed it when I was checking out a landed abducter. Came around a corner with one of my guys, and there was a sectoid, right in front of him (complete with heavy plasma, I found out later). So he had just enough TUs to make a snapshot, and I decided to do it. HIT! But sectoid is still alive!

So naturally I say to myself, "Well that was dumb. This guy is going to die." I had nothing else I could do that turn. Everyone else was too far away to lend a hand. And I didn't have any blaster bombs left to use. I was stuck.

So I clicked on End Turn, and wouldn't you know it? The sectoid walks around the guy, looks around. And then stops. My turn starts, I shoot and kill it. Wouldn't have happened in my CE game.

And mission after mission I realize the aliens are way too easy. Is there anyway I can change the difficulty midgame back to veteran? It just isn't fun to me when the aliens don't retaliate with full force... this is just a turkey shoot for me.

Let me first say that I started playing this game as X-COM: UFO Defense. But this version is next to impossible to find these days, the only version I have of it are the original floppies and I believe the PSX version is UFO Defense as well. It's not a big deal, I know it's the same game, but I wish I had my American version.

Regardless, I have been playing the patched version of EU on Windows XP. Runs pretty good, but the only issues I have are:

*Scroll speed is off the hook.
*The BEEP sounds of clicking buttons on the geoscape is deafening.

Is there any easy way to fix this? I'm really sorry, but I tried using DOSBOX and that thing is confusing as all hell. I've searched and searched for walkthroughs on how to get it running, and it's just a pain in the ***.

Anyone have quick fixes to this issues?

Well here is what I have of my fic so far. I have it in Microsoft Word 2003 format, however it should have no problem opening under an old version of MSWord. (If you don't have MSword or have problems opening it, please send me an IM at A Is Da Man, or an email at ashton.pierre@gmail.com). I hope to finish it this summer, but I have been saying that for like 3 years now.

I know a few of you play X-COM on PSX. Do any of you notice the game plays EXTREMELY laggy? Maybe it is just my playstation? I don't know.
