Okay, not that I know anything about EU (or much else, for that matter), but doesn't it get old after a couple play-throughs? I mean, I can understand getting better at unit tactics, or trying to play at higher difficulties to test your mad skillz, but after a while, don't you pretty much get to see through the game and become able to exploit the AI?

I'm coming at this from having played far too much Morrowind, and probably too much Silent Storm. Silent Storm is a game where, regardless of difficulty setting, you can pretty much master the game mechanic and find the ultimate fighting force within two play-throughs. Morrowind is very different, in that it's so damn vast you can do a ton of stuff you haven't ever done, even if you've played it for hundreds of hours. And then there's all the mods for it...

So Silent Storm is sort of broken, out of the box, and is really only fun (once you "figure it out") when you start limiting your play style: Only the Main character; only Scouts; plant mines more often than chucking grenades; no Snipers; etc.

But is EU different? I mean, how many different ways are there to effectively utilize a well-rounded squad? Do you veterans of the Alien Wars have to limit yourselves--as described above--to enjoy it, or is it just so freakin' good that it is still challenging to someone who has played through multiple times?

I thought all you tech-savvy webheads would be able to help me with this.

I just went to the New Balance website, looking for stores nearby that carry their shoes, entered ONLY my zip code into their store locator, and was told that there were several stores in the area: each store was listed as being a particular distance from my address! angry.gif

How the hell do they know my address? I've also come across this on other websites: one place even had banner ads that told me I could meet local singles in OAKLAND, where I just moved!! argh.gif How the hell did they know this, and how can I prevent them from knowing this?

I'm using the latest Firefox browser (history cleared regularly) with no particular attention paid to my privacy settings or anything else, really...

So yeah, I know I'm a total bastard, but I still have never really played the O.G. X-Com. I got and played TFTD for about two dozen hours back when it came out, but it was too damn hard for me (and I was a wee sprout, too, and unused to games like it; I had just come off of TIE Fighter).

So now that I'm a Silent Storm and Sentinels fan, I wanna go back to the game that started it all...but it's hard! Coming from the beautiful graphics of the S2 series it's hard to get involved with the old-school graphics of EU...

Am I a superficial whore? Am I missing something? (I also feel quite lost in the beginning; there's so many things to keep track of, from bases to loadouts to hiring and firing engineers and medicos, etc.) Is there a particular mindset I should try to adopt before playing the game? I just started a new S3 campaign and am having a ball. My Main is a Scout for once, not a Sniper, and the difference in the gameplay is remarkable, as is what it does to my brain to be playing as a super-sneaky ninja thief with throwing knives and a freakin' silenced machine gun... Mindset is quite important, I think.

So word! Berate me, tell me what I'm missing, and just generally convince me to play this game I keep hearing so much about!

Hey! Dammit! Where'd my music go? Actually, now that I notice it, where has it been this whole time?

Damn game! My character voices aren't even annoying me any more, because they're NOT THERE.

What gives?
